USA hockey victory

On Sunday night I watch the underdog America’s take on the heavily favored Canadians on their home ice and win. Me being an American I was jacked to see the level and the effort team USA played at. Some sports analysts are calling this the biggest upset since the miracle on ice in 1980. Grant it that this game doesn’t take Canada out of the gold and doesn’t give USA the gold. But the path is easier now for America and they only have to win three more games to get gold and Canada has to win four straight and doesn’t get a bye like America. The impact of this game is great because I could not name one player on the USA roster and I could name quite a few Canadian players and for America to beat out a country that is known for hockey, that is a good deal.

This year America went with a whole new roster of players with very few carry over and with very few NHL all stars like team Canada. The head coach for USA targeted players with high character and ones that would sell out. The coach is also known for being able to pull a team to gather in a short amount of time and also getting them to believe in a common goal, which is to win it all in these 2010 winter games. Also this year maybe the last year were pro players will be allowed to play in the games because the NHL is not happy they are not getting any of the profits shutting down their season to let the league players go play in this tournament. Also by having the league stars play, they risk injury by playing in extra games. Either way I thing the hockey will still be good, which every way they decide to go.

In closing it was good to see the underdog USA come out and take it to the heavy favorites to win it all team Canada.

NFL lockout

I was on the internet and was at the NFL’s web site and I read an article about the great possibility of their being a lock out of the 2011 season and a none salary caped season in 2010. I figured this is just another story to get a person worked up, but nothing will ever come from it, but as I read on this is a very serious deal if you are a professional football fan. The big conflict is between the players and the owners and if they can’t agree on a deal there will be no football. I think it is crazy if the sides can’t come to terms and figure out the money deal because right now the NFL is living the high life. The NFL has the highest ratings on T.V and in a rescission they are clearing over 5 billion dollars in revenue and the clubs individually are clearing over 30 million profits a year. Yet they are still fighting over money, honestly both sides got a good deal going why bicker over who gets more money; last I checked both sides get paid very well.

Also for this next season don’t come to terms, there will be a salary cap less season which means any team that wants to fork up the money can sign any top free agent player. What this means is that pro football will turn into pro baseball where there is really no equal playing field and there are powerhouses and there is no equal playing field for teams. I hope this doesn’t happen the new America’s past time. But if the labor union and the owners can’t figure it out there will be no pro football in 2011 in America.
