NFL lockout

I was on the internet and was at the NFL’s web site and I read an article about the great possibility of their being a lock out of the 2011 season and a none salary caped season in 2010. I figured this is just another story to get a person worked up, but nothing will ever come from it, but as I read on this is a very serious deal if you are a professional football fan. The big conflict is between the players and the owners and if they can’t agree on a deal there will be no football. I think it is crazy if the sides can’t come to terms and figure out the money deal because right now the NFL is living the high life. The NFL has the highest ratings on T.V and in a rescission they are clearing over 5 billion dollars in revenue and the clubs individually are clearing over 30 million profits a year. Yet they are still fighting over money, honestly both sides got a good deal going why bicker over who gets more money; last I checked both sides get paid very well.

Also for this next season don’t come to terms, there will be a salary cap less season which means any team that wants to fork up the money can sign any top free agent player. What this means is that pro football will turn into pro baseball where there is really no equal playing field and there are powerhouses and there is no equal playing field for teams. I hope this doesn’t happen the new America’s past time. But if the labor union and the owners can’t figure it out there will be no pro football in 2011 in America.

  1. While I am not a huge football fan, mainly because I don’t understand the rules, I find it so sad that these people are fighting over money. I think that since nobody is really struggling there is a solution that they could come up with that would make everyone happy. If they were to have a lockout it would be a tragedy for the fans. I just think that the people in this situation need to remember that they are being watched and looked up to by young kids, and do we really want to send them a message that money is that important?

  2. The possibility of a NFL lockout makes me sick! I am a huge Minnesota Vikings fan, and I am not sure what I would do without them. I think the NFL will have to get things figured out, because as you said they are really doing pretty good financially. The NFL would lose so much money if they did not have a 2011 season. The league has so much interest right now that it is goofy to even think about a lockout. Hopefully the NFL will work things out.

  3. This is just stupid. I cant believe millionaires are bickering over money. Really?!? c'mon, they are living bette than anyone else in the world and they have to go and make a big deal about getting a couple more million. They are doing a job they love, and yes they have to out their bodies and health on the line, but the bottom line is that a player can just be sent on his way packing. They can just find another small time player to fill his spot and he can be happy about his salary. Look at the CFL, it doesn't have the high paying athletes as the NFL, but they still have great football games and it is exciting. People are jsut getting gready and before you know it, no one will win and the industry will become in trouble.
