Tim Tebow Pro or Bust

This past weekend was the NFL drafts took place this past week and the best new talents come out of the college ranks and try to turn pro. There was one player that a bunch of the media attention was drawn to be Tim Tebow. This player had a highly decorated college carrier, but did not receive a high pro grade by NFL scouts. A player that has accomplished, so much in the game of football, but scouts seem to think his skill set at quarterback wont translate to the pro game for a number of reason.

The pro scouts dislike that Tim has a low and elongated release of the football that scouts think he will struggle with getting the ball off with the speed of the pro game. So before the draft Tim decided to change his delivery of the ball by tighten up his throughing mechanics to get the ball out faster.

Another knock on Tebow was that the offense he played in four years. They call it the spread and it is very passer friendly and the windows for completion were large so your passes didn’t have to be very accurate. Now in the pro game the windows for completion are small and passes had to be on time and accurate to make a completion.

Tim’s up side is that he is extremely motivated and a hard worker who will do whatever it takes to play quarterback in the NFL. He also brings to the table great leadership skills and great person for the community. But that doesn’t make you a great NFL quarter back and teams don’t want to take the risk and spend millions on a quarter back that would pan out.

At the draft a team took a chance on Tim Tebow in the first round of the NFL draft. With the 25th pick the Denver Broncos took a chance on him. Only time will tell if Tim will prove his doubters wrong. Their head coach said they aren’t going to rush him onto the field, but develop him. The head coach at Denver has been known for developing quarterbacks. The last team he was with he took a quarter back that didn’t take a snap in college and made him a starter in the NFL. Denver took the chance on him in the first round with and are on the line for millions of dollars if he flops.

In all I guess it’s now a weighting game to see if he will become a NFL quarter back or be a bust.

  1. I personally think Tim Tebow will make it as a quarterback in time. But I do know what your saying Strang about how he might not be the right guy especially a first round pick guy. But only time will tell.

  2. This is a great story for the media to pick up on. Tim Tebow was unbelievable in his college career. That is why it is so surprising that people don’t think he will be good in the NFL. I can’t wait to see how Tim Tebow will work out for the Denver Broncos. If Tebow keeps up his hard work I’m sure he will end up being a good NFL player. I am also very interested in how the Broncos will use him considering they already have a QB.

  3. Tim Tebow had one heck of a college career. Coming from a big time high school out of Florida (which played "Hoover" high school out of Alabama from the show "Two-a-days.") With the amount of dedication and time that Tebow has put into not only his original life, but also football, he will do fine in the NFL. I just don't know if it will be as a quarterback. With his speed and strength, he could be used in many different ways.

  4. I'm so tired hearing about Tim "Cry Baby" Tebow. Yes he had on hell of a career but it was the system he played in. He is an over rated QB who I can't believe the Broncos wasted a first round pick on. Sounds like the raiders where drafting this guy for them. They know all about QB bust. At least when he does get to play, my Chiefs will get to meet him with Eric Berry.
